FAQ:

1.What is DAB?

DAB (Digital Audio Broadcasting) is the third generation of broadcasting, digital signal broadcasting, following the traditional analog broadcasting of AM and FM. Its emergence is a revolution in broadcasting technology. Digital broadcasting has the advantages of anti noise, anti interference, anti radio propagation fading, suitable for high-speed mobile reception and so on. It provides CD level stereo sound quality with almost zero signal distortion, achieving a "crystal clear" audiophile level playback sound quality, especially suitable for broadcasting "classical music", "symphonic music", "pop music", etc. It is highly sought after by professional musicians, music enthusiasts, and audiophiles! And within a certain range, it is not affected by multipath interference to ensure high-quality fixed, portable, and mobile reception.

2.Overview

DAB is the third generation of broadcasting after the traditional analog broadcasting of AM and FM. In addition to all the advantages of digital signal transmission, such as anti noise, anti interference, anti radio propagation fading, etc., it can also provide CD stereo sound quality and digital message services, and is not affected by multi-path interference within a certain range to ensure the high quality of fixed, portable and mobile reception.

3.Features:

DAB adopts advanced digital technology - Orthogonal Frequency Division Multi Task (OFDM) technology, which can transmit CD quality stereo programs with extremely low data transmission rate and distortion. In addition to solving the problems of poor reception and interference in traditional analog broadcasting, DAB can further provide accessible data services. Taking Eureka-147 as an example, the frequency visual program content requirement cuts the bandwidth into multiple sets of sound signals and additional data compression data, which are processed by multiple tasks and then modulated through OFDM (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing), and can be transmitted within a bandwidth of 1.5MHz. The biggest feature of Eureka-147 is that it uses the Guard band and interleave mode to avoid selective fading and intersymbol interference caused by multi-path and Doppler effect. Only one frequency can be used to cover the whole area, which is the so-called single frequency network (SFN), that is, multiple transmission stations can broadcast the same program on the same channel at the same time, To achieve the goal of covering the entire area without generating co frequency interference.

4.Differences:

The biggest difference between DAB and traditional broadcasting (FM, AM) is that in addition to its CD quality transmission quality and technology, DAB also has the ability to receive multimedia information, including text, data, images, images, and even real-time updates. Therefore, the application of DAB is not limited to audio broadcasting services, but more importantly, data broadcasting services. Therefore, many scholars also refer to DAB as Digital Broadcasting.

5.How to receive it?

To receive DAB programs, you must use DAB dedicated receiving devices to listen or receive the programs or information you want to receive. DAB receiving devices can be roughly divided into car type, household type, portable type, and computer receiving cards. Household, car type, and portable DAB receiving devices have similar functions to current FM/AM receivers. In addition to the basic functions of FM/AM, there are also DAB functions, but only limited to receiving audio programs. The LCD screen on the receiving device often displays the basic information of the receiving channel; The DAB receiving device of the computer receiving card can not only receive general audio programs, but also receive text, pictures, and images at the same time Due to its installation on a computer and integration through the Internet, the application level is relatively flexible and extensive; The currently expensive car and portable DAB receiving devices also have most of the functions that computer receiving cards can achieve. In addition, the car DAB radio is also divided into front and rear installations.

6.Required antenna:

Because analog and DAB are two completely different broadcasting technologies, an FM antenna cannot work for a digital broadcasting receiver. Even if you are in a steel framed building or a basement, the indoor antenna of the digital receiver can work perfectly. There is an empirical method where if your FM or mobile phone reception is poor, you will not be able to receive DAB through indoor antennas. If this is the case, you need an antenna installed on the roof. For optimal results, the dual dipole or Yagi antenna must be pointing in the direction of the transmitter. The DAB antenna must be vertically polarized.

7.Nowadays, the most commonly used products of DAB are mainly DAB radios, with product lines including household, car, outdoor, etc. Of course, the use of DAB ultimately relies on a single component, which is the DAB module. DAB module is like a carrier, and whether a DAB machine is good or not depends on whether the DAB module is good or not, whether it is sensitivity, power consumption, sound quality, etc., it is closely related.
